This week I took a tour through Kent to visit some of the small businesses in my community. This tour, led by Gaila Haas, Executive Director of Kent Downtown Partnership, gave me the opportunity to talk with small business owners and hear from them about the issues they are facing.
Like most small businesses across the country, those in my district are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic - and they're not immune to other issues our community is experiencing.
I was grateful for the chance to talk to these folks about how we're going to tackle these issues and what solutions we can implement to create a stronger region for families and small businesses to thrive.
Thank you to all the small businesses that I visited, including PEER Kent, Fig and Feather, Artsy Fartsy Art Lessons, Page Turner Books, and Retro Emporium Kent for welcoming me and to Kent Downtown Partnership for taking me on a tour through the neighborhood.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and are key to the success of our communities. In Congress, I will continue to be an advocate for small businesses in Washington's 9th District and across the country.
Year-round cherry blossoms will brighten up your neighborhood and provide food for your neighbors in need.

A very belated thank you to my neighbor down the street (Susan👩‍🎨) at Artsy Fartsy Art Lessons 🎨 for volunteering her art skills to paint a beautiful cupcake mural, on the plywood covering one of my broken windows, along with a message to let customers know that we are ➡️OPEN⬅️ for business!

During this COVID-19 pandemic having two broken windows didn’t help with the stress of operating a small business. However, the kindness, the support and reaching out from another female business owner has once again lifted my spirits, touched my heart and has helped me to focus on goals to move ahead. Thank you so much Susan!❤️

Please help me to say thank you to Susan and give both her FaceBook and Instagram pages a like.
