Before they're transformed into something new, these pianos are appreciated for the small details that rarely see the light of day. It's about honoring and admiring the artistry of unnamed and forgotten craftsmen, who nevertheless toiled each day to add some beauty and art to the world.

Pulled an all‑nighter in the shop with a baby grand, a couple of screwdrivers, some teenage muscle and a few headlamps.

There’s nothing like opening a piano that’s lived a lifetime of music to reveal the beauty hidden inside—harps, hammers, keys, all that timeless craftsmanship. Each one is mysterious, unique and beautiful in its own way.

Pulling the action out of this century-old Steinway revealed hammers and dampeners we haven’t seen before. And we can’t wait to show you what this one becomes. Stay tuned for our progress or explore more at secondchairart.com.
