The Blues World & the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise has lost one of our Masters with the passing of Benny Lattimore this weekend.

Simply known professionally just by his last name, Latimore played on several LRBC cruises with us through the years. Latimore recorded more than 25 albums throughout his illustrious career and had been a regular performer on the Soul Blues Circuit for 60 years. His signature hit record “Let’s Straighten It Out” was just one of many of his self penned songs. “Meet Me In The Middle Of The Bed”, "Sunshine Lady”, “Keep the Home Fire Burnin'” & “There’s A Redneck In The Soul Band” were just of a few of Latimore's hit records. His deep soul delivery on keyboards was always a great contrast to the many guitarists who seem to dominate the genre. Latimore was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2017 for his breadth of contributions recording.

LRBC President Roger Naber has had the pleasure of booking Latimore in various venues, festivals and decades dating back to 1986.

I'm deeply saddened to hear that the legendary Mr. Benny Latimore has passed on.

I send my deepest condolences to his wife Yvonne and his entire family.... may God send you strength and some comfort during this very difficult time, thank you all for sharing Latimore........ he brought a lot of joy to the world with his soulful talents..... his spirit will forever live on..... through the music.

I've been blessed to have shared some stages, stories and laughs with him......I am forever grateful....he inspired and encouraged me as a younger musician.... he always remained humbled even though he was an incredible musician, soulful singer, clever songwriter, and a super star!

Thank You Lat for all you've done with your love for the Music ...... May You Rest In Peace.
