The Summer King's decree has set the Freehold ablaze with purpose, as Sylvran Sunblade rallies a handpicked team to trace the echoes of ley lines within the Hedge. Their journey through the tangled paths led them to a nexus of immense power—only to discover a darker truth lurking beneath. The ley lines are tainted, siphoned by a mysterious force rooted in the mortal realm. As tensions rise, the group is drawn to the Nocturnal Garden, a hollow now shrouded in shadow and loss, where Lysander Nightbloom has been abducted by a monstrous creation of The Ticking Terror. The arrival of Rick, a wizened tinkerer from a time long past, adds a new layer of intrigue, especially as his hunt for the beast echoes the trials endured by Abraham in Arcadia.
On the mortal side of the hedge, the Freehold's investigation leads them to an uneasy alliance with a pack of werewolves, both sides wary as they discover they are hunting the same corruption. A pact is formed, fragile and uncertain, with a promise to meet again in a month.
But back at their Hedgegate HQ, the price of leadership grows heavy. In a brutal clash, Sylvran Sunblade lashes out, leaving Alaric Frosthaven, the Winter King's advisor, beaten and unconscious. With the deaths of four Freehold members still fresh, the simmering tension between the Summer and Winter Courts threatens to ignite into full-blown conflict.
