Last nights sunset was perfect. Good things come to those who wait …. After a couple reschedules due to lovely Kansas weather in the spring, we finally got to do Miss Dayanara’s senior session!! Gearing up for the class of 2027 and can’t wait for all the fun seniors! Monday I will be giving a couple dates for some cap and gown/college tee sessions! Ahhh Miss Sophie!! She is the last of a beautiful trio of sisters that I have gotten to photograph and she brought the sunshine with her. She has some golf skills so why not also be playful at the miniature golf exhibit at the Nelson! This is Maddie. Don’t let her gorgeous face fool ya .. when she’s not getting glam for senior pictures you can find her in a deer stand. When we headed to their family property I knew we were gonna not have enough time to play on everything it had to offer. Barns, cars, meadows, deer stands, trucks and old gas pumps and we finished at her grandpas with a whole ice cream shop! Plans for those pics at a later date 😂. Maddie, so much fun! Round 2 for Ashlyn!! For years I drive down this stretch of road and every year I say to myself in a whisper this is sooo pretty I need to do this and today I did. It was morning in the fall so not as much traffic and we DID IT and I am so happy I did. Last night was one of those nights that thank goodness we stayed well into blue hour because we got to watch the moon rise and then just have some fun! Last night’s Beaver moon was magical! The weather has been cooperating and the fall light is just so damn pretty!! All that out of the way cause can we talk about Ashlyn?!! I take sports and club pictures for the local high school here and she’s come through my line a couple times for choir and drama and I always compliment her and tell her how much I love her curls! So I was pretty excited when she contacted me to do her senior pictures .. and I was right in knowing that she was gonna be magical also! She is the lead in the play next week and she is none other than Ariel in Footloose!!! I think she is just perfect for that!! I’m gonna have to go watch! Ashlyn, you were just lovely and so much fun and thank you for turning around when I called you to come back so I could get a last shot! Xoxo, Nikki

Sometimes I get a session that I didn’t think was gonna happen because of the high winds and towards the end of the session we decided to head into the chaos of it because the sun was just showing off with the clouds and making everything come together perfect!! Golden hour in fall. It really is a magical time. Did you know that us photographers get a little more golden glow in the fall because the arc of the sun is a little lower and more cozy and warm in color and that is why chasing sunsets this time of year is a prime spot for clients! I am well aware the effort that goes into family photos when all my clients come to me. Which is why until last year we didn’t do it very often. When my little tribe is this large now it is chaotic and hard figuring out style and color palette but also letting everyone be themselves. I run around photographing them just like I do you but then had to get myself together in five seconds to jump in some too ha!!! So to all my clients, I SEE you!

Today I give you the sunshine in my life. They are my why. They are my soul. The coconuts have brought so much joy into all our lives and when we are together we are loud and sometimes chaotic and messy. But what we are most is love. I am so proud of my girls for who they have become in the midst of some hard times because they choose to see the good. They are everything I ever want to be and strive to be. These humans all make me laugh when I have wanted to cry. I love them a lot. We are perfectly imperfect and that’s what I love most. We choose each other for the milestones, in the hardships, in the wins of life and in the quiet and in the loud moments. I will choose them every day. xoxo

October is already flying by and the mad dash to be photographed in the fleeing colors of fall. I think we are gonna still have leaves in November though! I just want summer already ha! A few times in the fall I open up golden light sessions and if you are one of the sweet families that grab that last spot, the spot of the last 15 minutes where we say goodbye to the day it’s just magic.
