I've been to Erie and Presque Isle State Park many times, but not when I'm knee deep into birding 🐦 I honestly think my favorite thing was the wood duck. I was so mad my camera wasn't picking up how pretty he was, but through my I saw him perfectly! I met some great people too. I really want to invest in actual camera equipment 👀 they also had a bird banding set up where they set up nets to capture some birds and put a little band on their leggies, so I got to see some warblers up close 😍 I went out to have some quiet time, observing, listening, relaxing, and I accomplished just that. Going back in a few weeks ✌️

I've been flipping through my art books and loving the impressionist art. I've also been looking how to create work without getting super detailed with color blocking and shading. Of course Monet is like always the inspiration. I used all colored pencils here, just shading and lightly blending, using contrast to brighten areas but no actual fine details. I'm proud of myself for this! I plan to make more and maybe try it with watercolor as well. This is a great way for me to slow down as well. I tend to work quickly but I really challenged myself to be methodically and enjoy the process. 💚

P.S. go to a museum this summer!!!
