Taking an established festival into a new market has been one of our favorite challenges this year.

With Florida Fin Fest St. Pete one month out, we’re sharing a little of what goes into building an event somewhere new and what we’ve learned along the way.

Year one, here we come!

Sports have always been entertainment. What’s changing is just how far that entertainment can travel.

Someone can discover F1 through fashion, the US Open through a creator, or the Olympics through music before they ever consider themselves a fan of the sport.

For event producers, that creates a much bigger opportunity. Every part of the experience has the potential to reach a new audience, bring them into the space and give them a reason to come back.

Game day has a much bigger audience now. We have to build for it.

There’s a reason everyone loves being able to say, “I saw them before they got big.”

There’s something special about finding an artist when they’re still playing the smaller stage, going to a festival in its first couple of years, or taking a chance on an event you don’t know much about yet.

Not everything is going to become the next huge thing. That’s part of the fun.

But every artist headlining festivals right now was an opener at some point. Every festival people travel across the country for had a year one. And a lot of the things we consider staples now only got there because people were willing to give them a shot early.

So go see the opener. Buy a ticket to the new festival. Check out the free show. Bring a friend to something neither of you have heard of before.

Worst case, you tried something new.

Best case, a few years from now you get to be the annoying person who says, “I was there before everyone knew about it.”

Live music demand is at an all-time high, but getting someone to a concert and getting them to commit to an entire festival weekend are two very different asks.
For festivals, the opportunity is making everything around the music worth the extra time, travel and spend.

A great live event can do a lot more than fill a venue.

More people are planning entire trips around concerts, festivals and sporting events, which means that impact is reaching hotels, restaurants, local businesses and the city surrounding them.

We’ve seen it firsthand with Florida Fin Fest, generating $7M in local tourism impact for Jacksonville.

The event might be the reason they come. The destination is part of why the trip matters.

Gen Z is spending more on live music, but that doesn’t mean they’ve stopped caring about price.

They’re just getting more intentional about what feels worth the spend.

For promoters, that makes the job pretty clear: if you’re asking more from the fan, make sure you’re giving them more to show up for.

AI is making it easier than ever to create and consume entertainment. But it might also be making the things we can’t replicate more valuable.

Live Nation sold 143M+ concert tickets through mid-July, 14M ahead of last year’s pace.

As our screens get better at entertaining us, there’s still something they can’t recreate: actually being there.

Do you think AI will make people value live experiences more?
