731 Hip Hop & R&B Benefit Tournament

The 731 Hip Hop & R&B Benefit Tournament is a competitive performance series designed to spotlight local talent while giving back to the community through charitable contribution.
A portion of all proceeds will be donated to a local charity (to be announced).

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
The tournament will take place in three official phases:
1. Audition Round
2. Semi-Final Round
3. Final Championship Round
Advancement is based on judge scoring and audience participation.
PHASE 1: AUDITIONS
Start Date
Auditions will begin after February 16th.
Entry Fee
$10 Audition Entry Fee
Performance Requirement
Each act will perform two (2) songs during auditions.
Artists may:
Perform the same two songs throughout the contest
OR
Change material as they advance
Closed Auditions Policy
Auditions are closed to other contestants.
No artists or groups may watch other auditions.
Only judges, staff, and the performing act will be present.
Judges’ Feedback
During auditions only, judges may provide one-time pointers to help strengthen the performance.
PHASE 2: SEMI-FINALS
After auditions conclude, selected contestants will advance to the Semi-Finals.
Performance Requirement
Each act will again perform two (2) songs.
Semi-Finals will be open for other contestants to attend and observe.
Scheduling
Semi-Final dates will be announced once auditions close, based on the total number of entries.
PHASE 3: FINALS (CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND)
The top performers from the Semi-Finals will compete in the Finals.
Performance Requirement
Finalists will perform two (2) songs.
The Finals will determine:
-1st Place Champion
-2nd Place
-3rd Place
Final event date will be announced after Semi-Finals are set.
JUDGING & SCORING
There will be:
Three (3) Official Judges
Crowd Participation Voting
Each contestant will be scored using the following categories:
Judges’ Categories (75% Total)
Stage Presence – 25%
Originality – 25%
Crowd Engagement – 25%
Audience Vote (25% Total)
Crowd voting will account for the final 25% of the score.
AUDIENCE VOTING SYSTEM
Audience members who purchase a ticket will receive:
Three (3) Voting Tickets
They may choose to:
Vote for three different contestants
OR
Place all three votes toward one contestant
OFFICIAL RULES
Backing Track Policy
No main vocal tracks are allowed
Only the following are permitted:
Ad-libs
In-and-outs
Background vocals
Solo & Group Entry Rules
Artists may enter as:
A solo act
A group/collaboration
Entry Limit:
No artist may compete more than two (2) times total.
Example:
Solo entry + group entry is allowed
More than two total entries is not
Consistency Rule
Acts must remain the same throughout the tournament.
If you begin as a solo artist, you must finish as a solo artist
If you begin as a group, you must finish as a group
No adding members in later rounds
Music Ownership Disclosure
Artists must indicate whether their music is:
Original and owned
OR
Borrowed, leased, or licensed
Content Guidelines
We encourage music that promotes artistry and community.
No violence
No hatred

Semi-Final and Final scheduling depends on total contestant turnout
