A native of South Mississippi, Abbye West Pates is a singer-songwriter who has called Memphis, Tennessee her home for over a decade. She loves people and songs so it only makes sense that she'd feel most at home at a house concert or dark listening room somewhere, close enough for a conversation with the listeners. She's a little folk, a little country, and loves a good story. You're invited to come listen in.

She is joined in this session by Matthew Clark, a fellow singer-songwriter.

Lauren Sink, an aspiring Singer/Songwriter from Oxford, Mississippi, strives to bring Light to this world by lifting up the name of Jesus. Lauren fell in love with music early in life and began leading worship in local churches. After many prayers, Lauren decided at the age of sixteen to devote the next chapter of her life to music, and to use it as an instrument to encourage this generation to step out in faith. At the age of twelve, Lauren was first introduced to the guitar by her father, and fell in love instantly with the sounds she was able to create at her fingertips. Lauren soon developed a passion for singing and songwriting in His name, and for His glory. An upcoming Contemporary Christian artist, Lauren Sink draws her sounds from a wide spectrum of genres including mainstream pop, indie pop, alternative folk, and, most-notably, Christian Contemporary Music. With the recent release of her first single, 'Lead Me to the Well,' Lauren hopes to inspire followers of Christ to grow closer in their relationship with Him. A prayerful song based closely on John 4, “Lead Me to the Well” implores listeners to satisfy their thirst with the everlasting love of the Heavenly Father. Future works include the release of her second single, 'Generation,' on August 9th, 2019 and the release of her full EP 'Shadow of Your Wings,' on September 27th.

Young Ages presents three songs in a full-band performance. Armory Session 020.

Songs in this session: Weak, Tenderoni, You + Me

Formed in January of 2018 Young Ages is putting a modern spin on 90’s R&B and 80’s Synth Pop music. Young Ages came about when two childhood friends, producer and MC Steve () and singer songwriter Josh Foxi () found themselves bored with the sound of current radio; longing for a time when house parties spilled into the streets and blared music that forced you to dance until you sweat. Aiming to bring that feeling back the two started making demos to help revive the sounds of Teddy Riley and New Jack Swing, with a little bit of Synth Pop to merge the old with the new. By July of 2018 they had put together a full band and horn section to help round out the vision and sound for the debut performance at the Jackson Music Awards. Together the two have found their way to a sound that is familiar and refreshing. Young Ages may be new into the Jackson music scene but they are long time music vets intent on delivering their own brand of Nostalgia Pop to anyone willing to dance til they collapse and sing til their voice is gone.

Mississippi is a state known for its storytellers and a rich history of groundbreaking musicians. Both terms certainly apply to Jackson indie-rockers Empty Atlas.

Formed in central Mississippi in 2014, Empty Atlas packs poignant narratives of personal growth and life experience into gripping, melodic indie-rock music. Lyricist and vocalist Micah Smith fronts the outfit, which released its debut full-length album, “Hestia,” in December 2016, shortly before bassist Alex Ingram, guitarist Brennan Michael White and drummer Robert Currie Hansford joined, cementing the band’s lineup.

Empty Atlas released their latest single, “Short Fiction” – a catchy, driving ode to lost love and summers past – in August 2018. They are currently reteaming with engineer Nick Smith at Dipping Vat Studio to record their sophomore full-length while also performing throughout the region.

In recent years, the band has shared the stage with popular acts such as Jared & the Mill, The Bright Light Social Hour, Broadside, Secret Stuff, The Vegabonds, Hodera and Sweet Crude, and worked with industry professionals as Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, The Killers), Joe Causey (Colony House, Steven Curtis Chapman) and Eric Woolard (For a Season, Courier).
