Isanti county MN I decided to become a potter as I was walking out of a "clay date" in 2009. I began my ceramics education with youtube (Simon Leach, I owe you sir), a class with Dan Devine, used equipment, kind retired potters, uncles, friends, lots of books, and lots and lots of practice...


Now I make functional wheel thrown pottery with my custom glazes. I'm often trying to create items that evoke a feeling or tell a story.

Spent the majority of today sanding and prepping these pots for weekend sales. Got to hang out with our little chicks that are getting bigger everyday.

While I grind the pot bottoms smooth I wear ear buds and listen to music to protect my ears. This Sarah Morris song is one of my new favorites and does great at protecting my ears!

Here are a few examples of a new glaze. I fired a wood kiln with some friends of mine . Wh**ey collected all the ashes from the day's firing. It ended up being about two five gallon buckets full. I took some of that ash and charcoal and mixed it with some local wild clay and earthenware to make this crazy running splash of color glaze that you see here. I'm amazed and excited. Hope you enjoy it too.
