Furniture should never be an afterthought. I consider it as important to a project as the architecture and interior design itself.

In modern spaces particularly, furniture introduces warmth, tactility and a sense of history. I like to mix contemporary pieces with vintage and custom-designed furniture, creating a tension between old and new that prevents an interior from feeling too perfect or overly designed.

Vintage pieces bring history and familiarity that something new cannot replicate, while bespoke furniture allows us to respond specifically to the architecture, proportion and way a room will be lived in.

The result should never feel as though everything was chosen at the same time. It should feel collected, individual and as though it has evolved over time.

FAMILY HOME — EVERYDAY ELEGANCE

The kitchen is the heart of a family home. It needs to work hard for cooking, entertaining and everyday life, but it can also be beautiful.

Good kitchen design starts with planning. Understanding how a family lives and uses the space ensures everything has a purpose and works effortlessly.

In this home, stone and timber provide a restrained foundation, layered with custom-designed furniture and vintage Murano lighting. I love introducing vintage pieces into contemporary interiors; they bring character, history and individuality, ensuring a space feels collected rather than overly designed.

For me, a family home should be designed for the way we actually live — practical, beautiful and individual.

DECORATION

A home created through art and soul.

Ancient objects, contemporary art, collectible furniture and pieces from different cultures and periods are brought together instinctively rather than by convention. Patina sits beside polish, antiquity beside modernism, the precious beside the unexpected.

It is this layering that gives a home its character — not a single style, but a collection of things with meaning, history and personality. Collected over time, rather than simply decorated.

FAMILY HOME

A family home needs to withstand the realities of everyday life without compromising the clarity of the architecture.

Here, robust materials and simple forms are grounded in modernist principles of proportion, repetition and honest materiality. Travertine, glass and dark metal create a restrained palette, while deep overhangs, sheltered terraces and strong structural frames provide protection and permanence.

The result is architecture designed to be lived in, practical and enduring, but uncompromising in its design.

PRIVATE JET

Designing a private jet is an exercise in precision. Every surface, material and detail needs to perform within an incredibly demanding environment without compromising the sense of luxury.

Richly figured timber, veined marble, polished metal and soft leather transform the cabin into something closer to a beautifully tailored interior than a conventional aircraft.

The challenge lies in balancing technical requirements with comfort and refinement — creating a space that feels considered, luxurious and entirely removed from the ordinary experience of flying.

PENTHOUSE

There is a warmth that comes from beautiful materials used with restraint.

In this penthouse, richly figured stone, dark timber, polished brass and softly reflective surfaces create a sense of depth and permanence. Each material has its own character, but together they form a calm and cohesive interior.

The result is luxurious without feeling precious — a home defined by materiality, craftsmanship and the pleasure of living with beautiful things.

DAVID HICKS X SUSSEX

'FELIX'

Born from an idea of simplicity, this collection is the result of a close collaboration between design, craftsmanship and engineering.

What began as a series of sketches evolved through an exploration of line, scale and proportion, balancing the clarity of the original idea with the technical precision required to bring it to life.

Spanning tapware, showers, bath spouts and accessories, the collection is offered in our signature combinations of brushed oyster nickel with polished chrome, and smoke gunmetal with polished black chrome, alongside an extensive palette of additional finishes.

A collection where simplicity is defined by the detail.

THE APARTMENT

Apartment living demands a particular kind of discipline. Every element needs to earn its place.

For this Sydney apartment, the principles of European modernism informed a restrained language of clean lines, strong proportions and integrated function. Richly veined stone brings movement against pale timber and textured cabinetry, while curated furniture introduces softness and individuality.

The apparent simplicity relies on precision, discreet junctions, aligned panels and carefully resolved transitions, rigorously documented and carried through construction.

A balance of architecture, materiality and decoration, considered as a whole.

DECORATION

Art should never feel like something simply added to a room.

In this apartment, paintings, sculpture, collectible furniture and decorative objects are woven into the interior, each piece chosen not simply for its provenance, but for what it brings to the composition.

Different periods, materials and personalities sit confidently together, creating a home that feels collected rather than decorated — personal, expressive and entirely individual.

PIED A TERRE

There is something inherently appealing about a pied-à-terre. Freed from the conventions of a primary residence, it can be more personal, more expressive and perhaps a little more indulgent.

Here, polished stainless steel, lacquer, glass, timber and collected pieces sit comfortably alongside one another, creating an interior that feels considered without feeling overly composed.

A city home designed not around necessity, but around the pleasure of being there.
