There has been an almost absurd amount of turmoil lately, and we know many of you are carrying some combination of anger, grief, exhaustion, and a very reasonable desire to scream into the void.
We’ve been a little quiet here, too. Thank you for your patience and grace. Through all of this, the need to come together, care for one another, and use our voices in peaceful dissent has only grown more urgent. We need places where we can turn overwhelm into connection and find the courage to keep showing up.
Here are a few opportunities to come together:
🎶 Friday, October 16: Sing with Hendricks County Singing Resistance
Gather at UUCCHC, 95 N. Jefferson St., Danville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; singing begins at 7 p.m. They gather on the first and third Fridays.
📣 Saturday, October 17, from 1 to 3 pm: No Kings in Plainfield
Join our Hendricks County neighbors in bringing song and solidarity into peaceful public dissent. Singing opportunities will follow the flow of the rally. You can find more info on Mobilize or by visiting Hendricks County Singing Resistance. We'll be singing the "No Kings!" song written by Pam Blevins Hinkle, local song leader and musical legend!
🕊️ Monday, October 26, at 2 p.m.: Interfaith Vigil at Miami Correctional Facility
Gather near Bunker Hill, Indiana, for a shared expression of compassion, solidarity, and our commitment to the dignity of people detained there. Come help make that care visible. We'll share more details closer to the date, but mark your calendars now!
✨❓✨We also want your help shaping what comes next for Indy Singing Resistance.
Where around Indy would you like to gather? Tell us your neighborhood and suggest a welcoming place to sing. Know a space that could host us? Have some energy to help organize, share songs, or welcome people? We’d love to hear from you!
There is so much good we can create together. Drop your ideas in the comments, invite someone into the conversation, and help us make room for the community we need. ❤️🎶
