Call for Contestants,

On July 10, Face Your Fears is going to focus on what it’s like to be fat in America. Weight is a huge source of anxiety for almost everybody. it’s something we talk about delicately, we use it as an indicator of our self-worth. Someone’s weight doesn’t really have a place in polite conversation and we want to talk about it.

Face Your Fears is looking for two contestants who struggle with this issue. Each contestant will be asked to put together some kind of performance (5-7 minutes long) in a discipline that they are not used to performing in; Slam poets will attempt magic! Shakespearean Actors will become stand-up comics! Writers will sing! Modern Dancers will stand still!

Aaron Beasley will debut a belly dance for FACE YOUR FEARS!
This beardy masterpiece has been a staple on the Indianapolis Scene, bringing joy and puppets to the Circle City when they needed it most!
When I brought up the idea of a Belly Dance to him, his face went white, his mouth opened slightly and he said, “Jason, Belly dancing is really hard. It takes more than a week to learn!”

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Meet Kim McCann, one of the great unsung heroes of the Indianapolis Theater scene. She made that Amazing Nancy Drew Play that everyone was talking about a few years ago! She also did the one about Catcher in the Rye that ruled really hard AND she wrote that amazing Waiting for Godot type play that was at fringe two years ago. We all agree Kim is a great Playwright!
She is no nonsense! A straight shooter! If you are a fool, she will not suffer you!
But here is what you don’t know: Kim doesn’t think she can sing. In fact, it terrifies her. She writes poems and songs that are heartbreakingly beautiful, but she will not sing them. I suspect that it’s something about the vulnerability attached to lifting your voice that bothers her.
THIS SUNDAY
Kim McCann will Face Her Fear! She will sing an original song on a very personal subject.
