Today is and it is celebrated on the last Wednesday of every May. Aside from being cute and playful, these critters also play a crucial role in conserving healthy ecosystems. Sea otters, for instance, maintain kelp forests by consuming sea urchins that destroy these forests. Kelp forests help provide a habitat and food for other marine animals.

However, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the sea otter and giant otter are categorized as endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.

This art piece is a mixed media type. Water mixable oil paint, glitter glue, acrylic marker, and fineliner pen are included.

A still life painting I've been working on for a while. I call it "The Pulchritude of Innocence". When grouped together, these items present a cross examination between my childhood innocence and the transition into adulthood and self-discovery.

I hold these items dearly because they represent the enrichment my childhood received and the wonders of my early adulthood. These things bring back sentimental memories when times become tough.
