First Year in the Band: 2023

1. What does being a part of the Circle City Sidewalk Stompers mean to you?
"I like how being in the band has created new friendships and strengthened old ones, and has allowed me to travel more around the state and the region. I also like how much of a crowd pleaser the band is."

2. What inspired you to start playing your instrument(s)?
"I started playing trumpet in 6th grade because my best friend was going to be playing trumpet in band."

3. What advice would you want to give a young musician about continuing their love for music?
"Keep the music going. It doesn’t have to end after school - find opportunities to keep playing."

4. What's the most memorable performance you've had with the band, and why?
"Probably my first year with the band at the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, KY. This was in 2024. The afternoon street performance we did with the audience surrounding us - it was great."

5. What's the biggest difference between this band and any other you've played in?
"Memorizing 50+ songs, and the movements!"

"He was quiet but funny. He was a good trombone player and just a nice young man. Sometimes he would say something funny when you weren't expecting it and that made his witty comments even more enjoyable."

"He was a great euchre player. He had a little bit of a poker face. I can remember when we went to Paris, California for the Orange County Fair and we would sit and play euchre in the
breakroom and I was always happy when he was on my team. He was a great musician and you could always rely on him."

Why does J look so sad? Because there are only 3 more chances this season to see your favorite Sidewalk Stompers live before an Indianapolis Indians game. All three chances are part of this weekend’s home stand.

That’s right!! Two of Indianapolis’s favorite traditions in one place. Tonight’s music kicks off at 5:30 PM before the game right by the main gates.
