Yu-Yu-Kai began alternative dance group for those who are interested in continuing in traditional Okinawan dance, but wanted to do so within a large group (rather than solos or partners). The main form of dance is eisa. Since this a much more strenuous and virgorous style. It attracts younger generation, thus bringing together all generations to continue learning and spreading the Okinawa culture through dance. In addition to eisa, all participants, young and old, are learning another form of dance ryuba (folk dance), as well as how to play the Samisen.
Our Moto is "Fellowship and Goodwill can grow through exposure to culture." Through performance at local extended care facilities. In addition to events such the Indy 500 parade, Indy 500 children's day, IU language festival, Elli Lilly Japan day and various festivals. Yu-Yu-Kai continues to build good relationship with community members while introducing Okinwan culture. We have participated in numerous functions including the Board Ripple Art fair, the Indianapolis Children's museum, the Indy 500 Parade, live performance on TV channels FOX 59 and WTHR 13.
We are welcoming new members everyday! If you are interested in Okinawan culture, please send us a message. You don't have to be Okinawan to become a member of Yu-Yu-Kai, we have a diverse population of members that appreciate and enjoy every single second of Okinwan culture.
