B. Monét, we can’t thank you enough for creating our opening-night film, “Ballet After Dark”, and for being apart of this community.

B attended the festival and workshops all weekend, and she also ran her own workshop on day three! She went above and beyond to connect with everyone at the festival, inspiring young filmmakers every day.

Today, we need to show some love to our incredible 2026 host, Auboni Essence. She was there every day of the festival, introducing short films, leading Q&A’s, and connecting with our community.

Auboni is an eloquent, charismatic person who captures the audience’s attention with ease. There is always a comforting feeling when you are around Auboni, and it was infectious the entire weekend.

It was an honor to have Auboni Essence host this year’s Indiana Youth Film Festival!

It was such an incredible honor to have Indy’s #1 Black Youth Dance Co. African-Ballet-Hip Hop-Modern get the party started at the Indiana Youth Film Festival on opening night. They put on such a special performance before the showing of B. Monét’s Ballet After Dark. Make sure to give them the love and support they deserve!

If you’re 16-24 years old and interested in filmmaking, this is your chance to learn, create, and connect with Indiana’s creative community. Whether you’re just getting started or already building your skills, this is a place to not only learn but to get inspired!

Every day, a different industry professional will teach you about their specialty as you simultaneously begin creating your own film. By the end of the week, your cohort will walk away with all preproduction materials completed and will be production ready!

If you’re looking to create a film with a group of other like minded creatives and learn from some of Indiana’s best filmmakers, Weatherhouse Institute is where you want to be.
