Tonight we hosted Camp Jump Start for our beginning band students. At the start of the session, they didn’t know how to put their instruments together. By the end of camp, they could play Hot Cross Buns (with the help of a few ICHS Wind Ensemble tutors. 🙂. The new musicians did a great job! 🎶

Thank you to our HS student-musicians: Faith Schriber, Hunter Barrett, Dusten Tanis, Tyler Kaeding, Calvin Pratt, Xander Blades, Devon Tanis, Jayden Chandler and Will Cilk. 💙

🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: FROM MUNCHKIN MAYOR TO LEADING PLAYER! 🌟

We are so proud to celebrate one of our incredible eighth graders, Adelyn Kirsch, who has been part of the ICSPA family since fourth grade, when she first took the stage with us as Munchkin Mayor in The Wizard of Oz!

This summer, her performing arts journey took an exciting leap forward when she attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp for its six-week Musical Theatre program.

What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is that she originally applied and auditioned for the two-week program. After seeing her audition, Interlochen selected her for the more intensive and exclusive six-week Musical Theatre program instead!

Once there, she continued to challenge herself, auditioning for Pippin and earning the leading role of the Leading Player. 🎭

Spending six weeks away from home, immersed in intensive training and surrounded by talented young artists from around the world, required tremendous courage, independence, discipline, and a willingness to step outside of her comfort zone.

But as proud as we are of what she accomplished onstage, we may be even prouder of what Interlochen staff shared about who she was offstage. Her instructors described her as a tremendous leader who was kind and gracious toward her peers and commented on how well-trained and well-rounded she is as a performer.

That is everything we hope for our students.

Talent matters. Training matters. But being an artist who works hard, leads with kindness, supports the people around her, and represents her program with grace means even more.

From a fourth-grade Munchkin Mayor to Flounder to Annie to the Leading Player in Pippin at Interlochen, it has been pretty amazing to watch her grow — and she is only beginning eighth grade!

We are incredibly proud of her hard work, courage, leadership, and continued growth, and we cannot wait to see what comes next.

❤️🎭🌟 Congratulations on an unforgettable summer at Interlochen! Your ICSPA family is so proud of you!

🎭 Imagine Learning Musical Theatre from Someone Who Has Lived It. ✨

This year, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Imlay City Middle School have an exciting opportunity to spend the last two class periods of their day at the Imlay City High School Performing Arts Center, where they’ll receive immersive instruction in Musical Theatre and Theatrical Arts.

Students will experience hands-on learning in:
🎭 Acting
🎤 Singing
💃 Dance
💡 Lighting & Sound Design
🎨 Scenic Art & Set Construction
👗 Costuming & Makeup
🎬 Technical Theatre
…and nearly every aspect of bringing a production to life.

What truly sets this program apart is its focus on the Arts, Entertainment, and Design Career Cluster, helping students explore the many career opportunities available in the performing arts while building technical, artistic, leadership, and collaboration skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

Students are taught by Mr. Don Brewer, whose career includes three Broadway productions, numerous national tours and regional professional productions, and experience as a college professor of Musical Theatre. His real-world experience provides students with authentic training and mentorship rarely found in a public school setting.

Whether a student dreams of performing on Broadway, designing sets, running lights and sound, choreographing productions, managing stage operations, or simply wants to grow in confidence and creativity, this program provides an incredible foundation.

Enrollment is open to:
⭐ All Imlay City Middle School students
⭐ Schools of Choice students

🎭 Leadership in Action! 🎭

What an incredible few days for the student leaders of Imlay City Schools Performing Arts Thespian Troupe 10962!

Our six Thespian officers spent three days at the Michigan Thespian Leadership Camp at Oakland University, growing as leaders while preparing for an exciting year ahead for our troupe.

Congratulations to our outstanding officer team:
⭐ Isabella Brosius
⭐ Rowan Gardner
⭐ Peyton Hoban
⭐ Lily Epperly
⭐ Jared Pratt
⭐ Audrina Rodda

While they enjoyed inspiring workshops, performances, and leadership training alongside students from across Michigan, they also dedicated countless hours to serving their fellow Troupe 10962 members. Together, they:
🎭 Redefined our troupe mission
📜 Finalized our troupe constitution
📅 Planned activities and events for the coming year
💰 Developed fundraising plans to help make it possible for every troupe member to attend the Michigan Thespian Festival this December
🤝 Collaborated to strengthen the culture and future of our troupe

What impressed us most wasn’t just their creativity or leadership—it was their commitment to serving others. These students remained focused, engaged, and determined to make our troupe stronger, ensuring that every member has opportunities to grow, perform, and belong.

The future of Thespian Troupe 10962 is incredibly bright because of student leaders like these. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish this year!

Congratulations, officers! Thank you for your hard work, your vision, and your dedication to making ICSPA an even stronger community for every Thespian.

💙🎭
