Studio views | Kelli Nyman

Kelli Nyman’s folded paper works are a masterclass in restraint, rhythm and quiet beauty. Using one of the most ordinary materials imaginable, she transforms paper into luminous sculptural compositions that feel both architectural and reflections of nature. Every pleat, fold and gesture carries intention, creating pieces that radiate calm while still holding movement and energy within them. Her muted monochromatic palettes lend the work a timeless sophistication that effortlessly elevates contemporary interiors.

Kelli Nyman is an abstract paper artist living in Cambridge, MA with a studio in Somerville, MA.  While Nyman considers herself self-taught, her degree in Design & Merchandising from Drexel University and her 12-year career in marketing gave her a grounding in art, design, and business.
Since making her first sculptural paintings in 2016, Nyman’s work has been commissioned by private and corporate clients across the US and Canada, including the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC and McKinsey & Company in Boston, MA.  Her work is also held in the permanent collection of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Nyman has exhibited her work throughout New England including a solo exhibition at the Southern Vermont Arts Center. Learn more and collect her work at the Juniper Rag ART SHOP [link in bio]

There is a magnetic emotional pull to the abstract paintings from Patti Kelly. Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Patti creates atmospheric works that feel so personal and universally felt — paintings that move like weather, seasons and landscapes at once. Her expressive mark-making, layered textures and sweeping gestures invite viewers into her moody worlds, immersive and beautifully alive.

Alongside her studio practice, Kelly has had a longstanding career as an educator, teaching throughout Massachusetts and serving on the faculty of the Worcester Art Museum. Her influence as both an artist and teacher has made her a respected figure within the Central Massachusetts arts community. Her work has been exhibited widely in juried and invitational exhibitions throughout New England and featured in exhibitions through Juniper Rag, including the notable sell out at the TORRID show. Thrilled to experience Sam Belisle’s solo show and artist talk led by curator and art organizer Joëlle Tomb. Profoundly moving and visually compelling, his paintings transform the landscape into a deeply reflective experience. Sam’s talk added a layer of intimacy and connection to an already resonant exhibition.

OVR|WRKD is a collection of 10 large-scale oil paintings depicting banal micronarratives that center moments of respite from the chaos of living and working within the Digital Anthropocene. The title of the exhibition attempts to describe a lasting feeling of mental fatigue and anxiety that seems inherent to a society where identities are monetized, attention is colonized, and lived experience is replaced by the referential. The duality of modern life is not-so-slowly reducing personal experience to a cycle between work in the analog and leisure in the digital, with no clear understanding of the consequences of such a shift.
