This October, Art & Tea Night is happening every Wednesday evening! πŸ‚

Come enjoy a relaxing hour with us β€” sip some tea, create a little art, learn about Korean & Japanese culture, and try something new.

Kids, teens, adults, friends, and families are all welcome!
No art experience needed β€” just come, create, and enjoy the evening together.

Today is Chuseok, Korean Thanksgiving!

At our latest Art & Tea Night, we celebrated a little early by learning about Chuseok and the Korean Moon Rabbit (달토끼).

We talked about how, in Korea, people traditionally imagine a rabbit living on the moon, pounding rice cakes. πŸ‡ We also had fun discovering that other cultures have their own stories about what they see in the moon!

Then everyone created their own beautiful Moon Rabbit artwork while enjoying tea together.

Tonight, we enjoyed tea together and created our own Korean-inspired Four Seasons Mini Folding Screens.

We also learned a little about traditional Korean art and some of the plants often seen in Korean paintings.

Art & Tea Night isn’t about being a perfect artist. It’s about slowing down, trying something new, enjoying a cup of tea, and experiencing a little bit of Korean culture together.

πŸ› The Story Behind β€œCutipillar” πŸ›

When I was a child, one of my favorite books was
"The Very Hungry Caterpillar."

I loved watching the little caterpillar grow, change, and eventually become a beautiful butterfly. That story stayed with me for a long time.

Maybe that's why I always drew a tiny caterpillar next to my name.

The funny thing is… I don't actually like bugs!
I think they're a little creepy.

So I wanted to create a caterpillar that felt different β€” something friendly, colorful, and cute.

That's how [Cutipillar] was born:

**Cute + Caterpillar = Cutipillar **

But Cutipillar means more to me than just a cute character.

A caterpillar doesn't become a butterfly overnight.
It grows little by little, one step at a time.

I believe learning is the same way.

You don't have to be good at art.
You don't have to already know Korean or Japanese.
You don't have to be perfect.

You just have to be curious enough to try something new.

At Cutipillar Studio, children, teens, adults, friends, and families can explore art, language, and Asian cultures together β€” at their own pace.

We may all be little caterpillars today…

but who knows what kind of beautiful butterflies we'll become someday? πŸ› β†’ πŸ¦‹

To celebrate, I made these little Taekwondo origami cards and gave them as a small gift to friends who practice Taekwondo!

Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art that is now practiced and loved all around the world. 🌎

Have you ever heard of Taekwondo? Maybe you’ve even tried it before!

There are places right here in Hutchinson where you can learn Taekwondo, too. If you’re curious, check out a local class and give it a try! ✨
