Well, Huntsville… y’all showed up. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who came out, volunteered, shared a post, dragged a friend along 😆, or did anything else to help us bring As Goes the South to Huntsville.

Huge thank you to Ed Fields for sharing his creative vision, the history behind the work, and his perspective on what’s possible for Alabama.

To my cofounder Jenae Butler-Harper and the CBX community, thank you for helping us build this community in real time. We’re figuring it out, trying things, bringing people together, and having a pretty good time doing it.

Special shoutout to Rochelle Silveira Demeneghi for holding down check-in and Justin Fields for these AMAZING photos. 📸 And our promo partners for helping get the word out.

Did you know Birmingham has become one of the South’s most talked-about stories of growth, culture, entrepreneurship, and change? 👀

**As Goes the South** takes you inside the people, decisions, and community shaping that story.

On September 12, we’re bringing the film to Huntsville, followed by a live conversation with the Executive Producers about what Birmingham’s story can teach us as Huntsville continues to grow.

🎬 Here’s the trailer:

See the story. Meet the people. Join the conversation.

Somebody out there is probably sitting on a great product thinking there’s no market for it because every conversation is about AI, automation, or whatever the next big tech wave is.

Meanwhile people still have regular human needs all over the place.

Seeing a billboard for an Apple Shuffle made me laugh at first, but honestly… it makes sense. There are absolutely people that want music without notifications, apps, group chats, ads, tracking, and 85 distractions. Just press play and go.

That got me thinking about how much business is about finding your people, not trying to sell to everybody.

Not everybody wants the newest thing.
Not everybody wants more tech.
Not everybody wants their toaster connected to wifi.

The Apple Watch was supposed to kill traditional watches years ago. Instead, old school watches are having a comeback. Why? Because people buy things for different reasons.

Some people want craftsmanship.
Some people want nostalgia.
Some people want simplicity.
Some people just want things that feel real.

I honestly think the next decade of business belongs to niche communities and overlooked markets. The people everybody ignores while chasing mass scale and trends.

So stop waiting around worried your business isn’t “what’s hot.”

Go find your people.
That’s the business.

The idea of a one-person billion-dollar company used to sound crazy. Not anymore.

Medvi hit $401M in year one with a team of two. Projecting $1.8B next, powered almost entirely by AI. And what’s wild is… the tech stack isn’t even that special.

This wasn’t magic. It was someone who understood their industry well enough to identify a need and use AI to handle the roles of an entire company. He kept building… trying, failing, rebuilding.

The real story is not how extraordinary it is… but how repeatable it’s becoming. Find your industry problem, prototype a solution and get it in front of customers.

That's the rant. Happy Friday Y'all!

“Gig” just means side hustle.
And right now, more people are building multiple income streams because the job market is uncertain and layoffs are real.

Some are scared of AI.
Others are using it to make money, launch products, and solve real problems.

The biggest opportunities won’t come from big companies.
They’ll come from people like you building for your community with community.

I know this is sudden ☺️ but we're having an impromptu Scrappy Hour at Westlawn today 4-6pm. Small group talking building and business. Ping me if you want to stop by. Open to all builders.

Also, we are planning our next round of workshops around rapid prototyping and customer validation. Follow along at https://cbx.community/

Grateful for Huntsville Black Business Association and the work you continue to do for entrepreneurs across Huntsville.

Thank you for bringing the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses Info Session to our community and for creating space for real access, real insight, and real opportunity. Special appreciation to Kimberly Blackmon for showing up and pouring into local founders in such a meaningful way.

We’re proud that Community Business Accelerator could host and support this gathering. This is exactly the kind of environment we’re building. A place where entrepreneurs come to learn, connect, and grow together.

Looking forward to what we continue to build alongside you.
