Philly Teepee

Philly Teepee Philly Teepee is a pop-up space inspiring community and relaxation in the city. It pops up unannounced in public parks and open spaces across Philadelphia.

It offers an unexpected space for people to enter into, build community, and unwind. The teepee is made of 17 metal poles and a heavy duty canvas cover. It takes about an hour and a half to set up. It must be stated that indigenous populations of the world, have seen their cultural symbols disrespectfully appropriated by colonizing forces for centuries. In recent years, Native Americans have seen

mainstream pop culture carelessly appropriate their patterns and cultural artifacts into juvenile fashion trends and design motifs. It is not the intention of Philly Teepee, it’s creator or involved parties to contribute further toward this influx of cultural appropriation.
