The ornaments are coming along, getting their final varnish coats. Ribbons are next!
This rainy Sunday has me feeling a bit like Santa's elf, so today is ornament painting day.
Continuing the series, this is Lyrical Landscape 5.
Larger, at 24x36 inches on canvas, it's made of painted paper, sheet music, and wallpaper!
I'm loving the peaceful nature of this one and the yummy colors!
After last week's upside down oops, here is Lyrical Landscape 4, right side up!
My Lyrical Landscapes are intended to evoke wide open spaces, places where you can pause, take a deep breath, and hear yourself think.
This one is made with painted paper, sheet music, seed beads, and hand stitching.
Thanks to everyone who made this year's Art On The Green a spectacular event!
Kudos especially to the organizers ๐๐๐ and also to all the visitors, friends, neighbors, and artists. The weekend was a big ole art party!
I'm ending the weekend with my time-honored tradition of kettle corn and a tasty beverage on the deck. (Then a good night's sleep! ๐ค๐ค๐ค)
Cheers!
Y'ever finish an artwork, go to hang it up, and realize you put the wire on the wrong end so it hangs upside down?? ๐ Yup. โ๐ LOL!
I can change the wire, but that signature is going to be upside down forever! Oh well, someone will get a kick out of it.
The second photo is a sneak peek of the front (right side up).
This newbie will debut tomorrow at Art on the Green.
Update for Art on the Green: I will be in Booth 71, at the north end of the path close to Terex Road. (Highlighted in pink.)
Now, let's hope for excellent weather. Crossing all the fingers ...
It's BAAACK! Art on the Green is happening this year on last weekend in August. Instead of on the greens in the center of Hudson it will be at the Jo-Ann Fabrics property down the street.
Nice open location, LOTS of convenient parking. Mark your calendars ... hope to see you there!
Heh heh! A little collage-y silliness for a summery afternoon ๐๐
A happy moment in the house! One of my collages was selected to be part of a book titled, "Collage In The House"!
Curated by Kelly Schaub at https://www.collage-lab.com/ to commemorate World Collage Day (today!), the book contains 40 house-shaped artworks.
Mine, called "A Drowned House", was chosen, and it's so exciting to see it in print!
Kelly hosted an online book launch party earlier this week with the artists. What fun to meet each other virtually and connect with artists all around the world!
Oh, and happy World Collage Day! โ๏ธ๐
p.s. World Collage Day was founded by the publishers of Kolaj Magazine in 2018 to foster a spirit of artistic cooperation, mutual support, and creativity.
Well! Have to admit that I was pretty tickled to see that Lyrical Landscape 2 won an award last night at the Ohio Collage Society show!
I thought both pieces looked especially nice paired with a lamp by Leo Miller :)
The show is terrific, full of fascinating art. And, of course, I enjoyed chatting with so many of my artist friends.
Many thanks to OCS and Up Front Art Space for putting the show together!
Lyrical Landscape 2 and 3 are my entries for the Ohio Collage Society's show at Up Front Art Space in Cuyahoga Falls.
The show opens tonight (5-7pm) and runs through May 29th.
I'm excited to see it! This group always puts together a fascinating show, full of artwork created with unusual techniques, surprising materials, and thought-provoking content.
My Lyrical Landscapes are intended to evoke wide open spaces, places where you can pause, take a deep breath, and hear yourself think.
To make them, I used handpainted paper, thread, and tiny seed beads.
The process of making them - choosing the pieces, simplifying the shapes, slow stitching the details and adding beads - was calming and meditative for me.
I hope they bring you a sense of calm as well.
(Lyrical Landscape 1 is at Summit Artspace for the National Collage Society's Small Format Show.)
A little stitching and beading this afternoon. Sometimes you just gotta add texture...
Journaling this morning under the watchful eye of my supervisor.
What are you up to this morning?
Well, that didn't last long! ๐คฃ
What is going on?! I haven't seen my table top since ... I can't remember when! ๐ฒ๐งน
Not sure what to do with all that wide open space ๐
