Anyone following may have noticed I haven't been posting much. Instead of focusing on photography, I've been focusing on homeschooling at the sudden news my son's school is closing, but I don't want to give up photography.

Y'all, I am SO mad!! I asked for a refund for the closed "rain or shine" Katy area market (due to rain) since getting credit for less than half of what I paid displaced until March doesn't work for me.

They are both pridefully boasting that they've only closed twice in 25 years, but also turning around putting blame on me because I should have anticipated a "rain or shine event" closing in the event of rain and just accept the expense as a tax write off 🤬🤬 and claiming they couldn't sustain business if they had to refund all of both times they closed, or that they're doing me a favor.

I'm glad to get a refund to keep me going, but these are not nice people!! They know they can get away with being rude because their event is popular.

This year time passed. I was very busy with friends, family, photography, and I dropped the ball on getting any kind of advent calendar this year.

Please share what you are doing to mark the days until Christmas, and maybe I can get some good ideas for next year... or even the next 5 days 😄😄

Throwback to the last time I did photos for the Duhon family! One thing I loved about this session was that they had some amazing visions that i was able to bring to life! When we got all our ideas together, it turned out great!

Not everybody has their own ideas either, and that's perfectly fine, there are so many things we can all do. But if you do have anything to bring whether poses, activities, or props, it really gives your session a little something more special to make it yours!

Today is a half day for many!! It's time where a lot of families are looking for festive activities!!

What are you planning on doing during your break?? Share what's cool wherever you live because people travel. Feel free to let people know how covid safe you feel the event is.

We went to Santa's Wonderland, which is outdoors. There are various levels of comfort at the location, you can go inside to see Santa, you can stay outside together, and depending on what you do, there are some crowds in lines for hayrides, which I would say being outside is maybe a moderate to low risk. You could avoid that altogether and go walking to see a lot of the lights. The petting zoo was pretty sparse. Overall, I feel like if you're looking for events, it's a good one to go to.

That time is coming where you're expected to take pictures with crazy children, so here are a few tips.

First: posing very small children with grandparents and families can be SOOOO stressful. If you want your kiddo in a posed picture, get them the very last, after everyone else is set up. Everyone else needs to be ready and smiling.

One thing that helps a lot is to do some brief fun like bouncing or squeezing. You know your child best, but from what I've found, many kids LOVE to be squeezed super hard and quick. You get great natural smiles like this!! You can also do some 1, 2, 3, big bounces, and the kid will be happy and anticipate the next bounce, and you'll get some great smiles.

If you have some freedom, though, the BEST pictures are when kids get to play. They love tickles, being chased, playing with bubbles, playing under a blanket. The more fun you plan out for your precious little one, the better memories you will make to save

I wanted to take today to congratulate Jack Smith for deciding to update his headshot after about 15 years. To spoil himself he got not just an updated headshot, but a mini- personal branding session to add some personality into what he does! It's a wonderful way to start putting out your brand. I definitely know I will enjoy working with Jack again in the future!!

I was looking back to one of my earliest "practice" sessions. It was so much fun working with one of my closest friends. And then I realized, most people I have worked with have either been friends or quickly become friends, and that is what makes the job so rewarding.

For anybody thinking about getting a photographer, I think this is probably the number one thing when looking for someone and deciding on who to choose, whether or not you feel like you can hang out together if they get you and know how to get you to have a good time. Not everyone likes crude humor, but these two definitely were cracking up at my leud jokes 😆

If we haven't met, please feel free to message me and tell me something strange about yourself, and maybe our strange personalities will mesh. Even if you're not looking for a photographer right now, it's always great to have new friends!

One thing people often wonder is how did you become a photographer? It all started when I got my first camera in 19XX...

Actually, I think it started with my freakish competitiveness with my sister. She was an amazing cartoonist (and went to work with the big animation companies)

However, I found my strive in high school when I made my own Harry Potter parody and filmed and edited it with my friends (... it was pretty bad, lol), and from that, I went to study media in college and then did a lot of videography for a wedding company.

Then the company owner moved out of state, and I decided to go into photography (because video is photography, just moving) and I found my passion is just as strong.

Beautiful art combined with a weird quirky personality makes for a very fun career!
