More Petri experiments are officially underway!

This batch is all about playing with color, placement, movement, and seeing what those inks decide to do once they start interacting.

Tomorrow I’m finishing these with the trial white overlay process, and then we get to see what survived, what transformed, and what turned into glorious little weirdos.

I’ll post the finished results tomorrow afternoon. Don’t ask me what’s going on with the square one on the bottom, right. lol.

What is one ridiculously small thing that can instantly improve your mood?

Mine could be waking up in the middle of the night and realizing I still have five more hours of sleep before I need to get up, the perfect Diet Coke with crunchy ice, or someone canceling plans last minute and then I can relax.

There should probably be a warning label on art supplies that says:

And somehow every single one of those purchases feels completely reasonable at the time.

This newest close-up is exactly why I love getting in way too close to these resin Petri pieces. One little section turns into a whole underwater world with part coral reef and part galaxy.

The details in this one are so good: those soft cellular forms, the movement, the dreamy blues and teals… I could stare at it for ages.

Apparently we need another tiny reminder from the Department of Basic Manners:

If you’re curious about how someone made something, ask them.

“How did you do that?” = lovely.
“Would you mind explaining your process?” = absolutely.
“Is it some great secret that you can’t use your words?” = and now we’re learning about consequences instead.

I am always happy to answer questions. I am not, however, required to reward rudeness with free instruction.

Just playing with my new bloom recipe from Britt Clayton Design and getting a feel for how the paints move, stretch and interact.

No grand plan. Just paint, play, adjust… and apparently make something I kind of love.

I think this one’s pretty cool. What do you think?
