Japanese Scrolls

Japanese Scrolls Specializing in Vintage and Antique Japanese Scroll Paintings and other Japanese art. I travel all over the U.S. I specialize in paintings from Japan.

participating in Japanese Festivals, Asian Festivals, International Festivals and other cultural events. Most are from 1900-1940, some are as young as Post 1940, but some can be up to 400 years old. Due to the fact that these paintings have been hung and enjoyed throughout their lives, each painting has signs of aging. Each painting may have age spots, wrinkles, frays, tares and/or staining. The

paintings are offered due to their artist, techinque, subject matter, and
beauty of composition. In the Asian culture the aging process is part of the beauty. As you see these paintings you will appreciate and see the oldest are usually the most beautiful. I travel through out the U.S. in the spring and fall of each year bringing these scrolls to a city near you. A list of events and dates will be posted. When I am not at a show selling these wonderful pieces, I will post a couple of paintings a month. If you are interested in purchasing please contact me. Visa, Mastercard and Discover and accepted but only after a good telephone conversation so you understand the paintings condition. There are no returns, but I will send additional photos of the painting's details and any flaws so you are well informed.

Crane on Tree
Matching artist as the previous painting of turtles.
This painted is hand painted on silk, with a celadon green silk mounting. The roller ends are of bone. Crane symbology- one of the most revirred and recognized of Japanese symbols, the crane represents Longevity. One of 5 species that mates for life, the whopping crane is often used for weddings in the Orient and are often depicted in pairs. This is a very nice painting and hung with the matching turtle painting would be spectacular. I will however, consider separating these paintings. Please contact if you have questions.

Vintage Japanese scroll
Turtle
Very Good condition
Turtle symbolism- longevity represents the number 1000 or infinity.
Turtle is depicted with what looks like a long furry tail but this is really the moss that has grown on his shell from being so old.
This painting is hand painted on silk with a mounted surround of celadon green silk.
This artist also painted the next painting of a Crane in Tree. It's unusual to find a pair of paintings designed to hang together.
I wish to have them stay together but I will consider separating them.
If you have questions or are interested please email.
