To celebrate éS Footwear “Accel Day,” we caught up with Don Brown to reflect on the meaning and inspiration behind creating a holiday dedicated to one of skateboarding’s most iconic shoes — still being worn and skated 30 years later.

Don shared that some of the best skateboarding ever done, by some of the greatest skateboarders to ever step on a board, happened in the éS Accel throughout the mid to late ‘90s.

What hit us most was his belief that, for many of those skaters, that era represented some of the purest and most natural moments skateboarding has ever seen. No pressure, no noise — just raw style, progression, and love for skating.

30 years later, the Accel still stands as a symbol of that timeless energy.
