🚨 COMMUNITY ACTION NEEDED — THIS THURSDAY, AUGUST 13TH 🚨
Hola good morning can u share , thanks……………….::::..I’m reaching out to ask your organization to stand with our community in the fight to protect our schools and the future of our neighborhoods.
At this Thursday’s HISD Board Meeting, the district intends to vote on selling the properties of Burrus, Cage, and 10 other schools that were recently closed.
What is especially concerning is that HISD has included an estimated $25 million in revenue from these property sales in this year’s general fund budget to help cover the district’s operating expenses.
Historically, school property sales have provided opportunities for community input, with proceeds directed toward renovations and new schools. We should be asking why these community assets are now being sold to fund general operating expenses.
We need organizations, community leaders, parents, educators, homeowners, and residents to show up and make their voices heard.
