Septuagenarian renegade, Jesse Amado’s works pack a soft sociopolitical punch wrapped in subversive beauty. He is heavily collected in the most prominent private collections across Texas, and in multiple museum collections across the country. Hailing from San Antonio, he was the first resident, and has a heavy presence , an artist fave of the late collector Linda Pace . His most notable works can be found in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and most recently, the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. Widely considered to be the most impactful Mexican-American abstract conceptual artist in Texas, he is a cultural treasure. His 50 plus years of art making is currently being archived through the MFAH, and his work history may also be viewed online in the archives of the Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
