TRIPLE O.G.’s — “GANGSTA LUVIN’”
This one is about what “gangsta luvin’” looks like when you take away the tough talk and actually show the receipts.
Three men. Three women. Three different chapters of street life.
Spanky tells the story of coming home after doing a dime, meeting his woman at a backyard jam, and finding out who stayed beside him when raids and street problems followed him home.
Don-Don takes it inside the county walls — early-morning visitation, letters from the tier, quarters for vending-machine food, faded Polaroids, and the woman who kept showing up when everybody else stopped calling.
Dav-Dav represents the next generation. He never made it to the yard. His woman helped pull him away from decisions that could've put him there, and together they turned what they had into something they could actually own.
Different roads. Different consequences. Same definition of loyalty.

“RAN IT DRY” isn’t about cheating. It isn’t about another woman. It’s about what happens when somebody makes you feel like NOTHING you do is ever right.

Bring her flowers—they’re the wrong kind.

Come home early—you should’ve called first.

Give her attention—you’re doing too much.

Give her room—now you don’t care.

Pick the restaurant—wrong choice.

Let her pick—“Why do I have to decide everything?”

After enough of that, you start changing yourself.

You stop seeing the homies. Put the phone away. Help around the house. Watch what you say. Eventually, you’re sitting outside your own home with the engine running for two whole songs because you already know when you walk through that door… something else is gonna be wrong.

That’s what “RAN IT DRY” is about.

Not one huge argument.

Not one dramatic breakup.

A hundred little moments that slowly use up the love you had for somebody.

Then one day she reaches across the bed, puts her hand on your arm…and you don’t reach back.

She asks:

“Do you even love me anymore?”

And for the first time, you realize you don’t have to think about the answer.

You had plenty when you started.

She ran it dry.

At first, it sounds like a revenge record, but it's really a cinematic story.
The song opens with a man walking into his apartment expecting the worst after suspecting he's been cheated on. Instead of relying on threats or clichés, the story unfolds through the details—the open door, a coat left behind, fresh tire marks, a glass on the table, and two women caught off guard. Every verse moves the scene forward like a movie.
The focus isn't on violence. It's on betrayal, anger, humiliation, and the choice of how to respond. The title, "Pay You Back," isn't just about getting even—it's about confronting the emotional debt left behind when trust is broken.
For this week's open mic, I wanted to lean into storytelling, painting vivid scenes and letting the listener experience the moment rather than simply describing it.

"KEEP ROLLIN'" is my entry.
I wanted this one to feel like a lost West Coast record from the late '90s—no modern shortcuts, just storytelling through the details. Every object, every location, every scar on the block is there for a reason.

My take on the
I took this challenge and turned it into a conversation with myself.
Looking back at the choices, the streets, the prison years, the people I lost, and the man I'm still trying to become.
This isn't about pretending I have all the answers. It's about owning my story and asking the same question of anyone listening.
