R&B singer Freddie Jackson has passed away, his family announced Tuesday. Jackson died Monday night, October 5, just days after his birthday; a cause of death has not been disclosed. One of the defining R&B voices of the 1980s, Jackson rose to stardom with his 1985 debut Rock Me Tonight and delivered a remarkable run of hits, including “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake),” “You Are My Lady,” “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” “Tasty Love,” “Jam Tonight,” and “Nice ’N’ Slow.” His smooth, romantic sound made him a fixture of ’80s R&B and earned him 10 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s R&B chart. R.I.P. 🙏
