Wrapped up three amazing weeks at Harvard Elementary this past Monday! It never ceases to amaze and inspire me to see students of all grade levels working on the same project. While expectations are modified (younger children focusing on skills that are age-appropriate, like hand-eye coordination and sequencing, for example), the pride students take in their work transcends age. It is an honored to partner with , and all the amazing parent volunteers who supported this learning experience. 🎞️ 🎥

How fortunate am I to have the opportunity to do work like this? The joy of landing on an idea (animation!?) and deciding to go for it, and the challenge of scaling the activity for children ranging from pre-k to fifth grade…those are all great, but nothing compares to seeing the students take to it and take it to new places. Grateful for the opportunity to partner with and for being absolutely amazing.

There it was, faintly visible among the daily chalking of the driveway: “Artopia.” One of the students had left this in their markings. I hoped to myself it meant that whoever wrote it felt the studio is a place they belong. Over five years ago, in January of 2020, I formed the business, but the dream and the idea began much earlier as I collected observations of people and children being creative. I’m so lucky to have meaningful work like this. I’m so thankful for the people who support and trust the work that I do. Thank you to everyone who has supported the growth and evolution of Artopiatogo. ✨ 👩‍🎨

Calling all Elementary school aged lovers of art! We have a few spots remaining in our Thursday class. We also had a Friday spot open up after a student had to switch to a different day due to a scheduling conflict. This year we will be in our NEW studio space located next door. I will continue offering complimentary pickup for students of Harvard Elementary and also offer early drop-off for non-Harvard families starting at 3:30 pm. Whether I see you in the studio this semester or not, know that I’m always rooting for your children to have a wonderful school year filled with joyful growth. Process art is open in a way that is truly magical. 🌟 activities that are child-directed allow for joyful exploration and discovery. When you isolate the process so children understand the HOW they feel free to innovate within that understanding of the process and also push the boundaries as they express themselves.

Sound the trumpets!! Artopia's 2023 Summer Camp dates have been finalized and registration is soon to open!! This summer will feature an updated format in terms of theme and time...We will offer longer day options, after care until 5 pm, and early drop-off.

The first three weeks will be our FOREST theme. Each of those three weeks will target learning in a specific medium like paper, clay, or sewing/felting and have projects reflecting the FOREST theme. We will incorporate our usual open studio, project-based approach in the afternoon.

Stay tuned for the official opening of registration. Spots will be limited not because we don't love having everyone, but because we have a high standard for engagement and quality of experience. Suggested ages are 5-10, but we are open to welcoming younger friends pending discussion with parents.

Artopiatogo loves bringing festive activities to your small group! Yesterday, we put on a wreath making extravaganza offsite for seven students who had the afternoon off from school. Notice how all the wreaths have their own look! We warmed up with a pour painting activity, had a snack, and then hit the ground running for an hour of making wreaths. Congrats to these hard-working creatives for producing some beautiful work. 👻
