Just like

I sleep like mom
Curled on my side
Fetal, with my hand over my eyes
Even when it is dark.

I sleep like mom - hard,
Drool on the pillow
Feet out of the sheets
Even in winter.

I sleep like dad
One hand in my pants
While on the couch
So I don’t fall.

I sleep like dad
Snoring mouth agape
Wondering where my glasses are
While pulling granny’s Afghan down.

I sleep like I never had
When the dog is behind my knees
Chasing rabbits and growling
Warmth radiating to my heart.
