WHO HAS TIME TO WAIT FOR THE SUN?!!! 🤣

I saw this quote posted recently, which seems relevant to most of my mornings....maybe yours too?

Mine are often started with my digital feet running before they hit the ground.

More accurately my thumbs hitting the phone keyboard...

It's barely 5am here and I haven't turned the lights on yet but I do hafta peeeee...so it's gonna happen soooon.

"What-had-happened-was"... I've had a text conversation with a client on accessing her Canva account with the pw I gave her which doesn't work for her but does for me...and an email reply to update a different client on website platform migration issues I ran into this weekend 😆

Like I said, my thumbs start running for that gazelle before they ever hit the ground or have coffee 🦁

I love my clients, even the ones that hate me 😆 ...but I'm going to thoroughly enjoy fewer marketing accounts and more art work in my life.

That's not a complaint.

I love my life however it is when I wake up at whatever hour.

It's all good as long as I can still wake up, right? 🤙😝

Art with transparent depth. I like to play with the possibilities of the technique. What other subjects would do well or what if there's an edge lighting component with reactive paints?

Also did you know the first Star Wars movie made heavy use of the old glass painted backrounds to create many of the scenes?

I used to decorate cakes when my kids were young...and it was a fun outlet for creativity. Fortunately there are no photos of those cakes because by today's standards they would seem terribly lame.

But I wonder what I would have created if the internet was available back then?

Social networks raise the bar for so many things simply by making us aware of what is possible. We as humans benefit from a boundless wealth of an exponentially growing culture, beyond restrictions.

The good that comes from social media far outweighs the "bad" that those without constraints or common sense profess need to be governed.

I hope this next generation realizes the pace of their learning is greater than any generation before them....and as in this example of artistry ...can be a beautifully inspiring journey.

How many art classes would have taken in college to learn this teqnique in 10 min?

Granted you would still need to do research on details like exact materials, best paints, drying times and such but it's all available....not unlike the homework lessons you'd be assigned.

Wow....I had no idea how many steps a hand crafted leather cover book takes to produce. The craftsmanship that guy puts in every step is mesmerizing.

Portfolio Review - Yankee Legends Acrylic Painting on Gesso

--- Yankee Legends, Acrylic on Gesso --- This is more of an illustrative piece depicting some of the Yankee's greatest legends. I was commissioned by my friend and one of my managers at Grady's Goodtimes to composite his favorite hero's faces and one corresponding action thumbnail with the stadium and fans in the foreground as a visual anchor. Now that I look back it was a very ambitious project with so many likenesses to capture and render out. But that was the brilliance of my youth....I would embrace a challenge with all my heart and just work my way through it. Problem solving the technique and layout and style were all a big part of what developed into a life long process I consistently fall back on. If I were to do something like this again I would use waterbased oils for more control over the subtractive painting and blending. I could get a little more expressive too....but it's still a great piece that I am proud to show as a signature work in my portfolio. --- Just a little digital fun --- I played around with this quote I found online with my Corel Painter app in an effort to work a little more creative stuff into my day to day routine. Not terribly exciting stuff but like a great many things in life some of the more creative of them will come unexpectently from moments like this while we're just fooling around having fun If there's something I'd like to pass on to young artists it would be to encourage them to practice without regard to whether they're making a masterpiece or something worthy of keeping. Forget who's going to see it... it's about you learning and feeling your way through mastering techniques that will allow you to put less effort and more heart into your work. Not that I'm mastering anything but procrastination here ...but you get the idea lol
