Arseni Khachaturan, ASC has joined the American Society of Cinematographers as a new member, bringing a body of work that includes award-winning collaborations with directors Luca Guadagnino, Dea Kulumbegashvili, and Arie and Chuko Esiri.

The Los Angeles-based, Belarusian-born cinematographer first learned to shoot, develop and print film from his mother before studying briefly at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and relocating to New York City. His credits include the features The Drama and the upcoming The Chaperones, the series The Idol, and music videos for Travis Scott, The Weeknd and Talking Heads.

Don Burgess, ASC joins the September 2026 ASC Master Class as an announced instructor, bringing feature credits including Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and Spider-Man to the four-day intensive. The session runs September 22–25, 2026, alongside fellow instructors Marcell Rév, ASC, HCA (Shooting on Film) and Tari Segal, ASC.

Last week at the ASC Clubhouse, cinematographer Brett Pawlak discussed Spider-Man: Brand New Day during the ARRI Afternoon event, in a conversation moderated by Valentina Caniglia, ASC. Reteaming with director Destin Daniel Cretton, Pawlak drew on the comics to build a grounded look pairing saturated reds and blues with deep, inky blacks, shot on the Alexa 265 with modified Panaspeed optics.

Ed Lachman, ASC received the Cinematography Legend Award at the Cine Gear Expo Awards of Excellence, alongside Caleb Deschanel, ASC (Legacy Lifetime Award) and M. David Mullen, ASC (Karl Kresser Heart of the Community Award). The ceremony was emceed by ASC associate member and AC Technical Editor Jay Holben and featured presenters Hoyte van Hoytema, ASC, FSF, NSC; Robert Legato, ASC; and John Simmons, ASC.

Cinematographer Chuck Ozeas discusses developing the visual language of The Upshaws across five seasons in the latest ASC Clubhouse Conversation with John Simmons, ASC. Ozeas, who took over as director of photography midway through Season 1, earned a 2026 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Series (Half-Hour) for the Season 5 episode "Indy Streets." He and Simmons discuss his single-source lighting approach — informed by fine-art influences from Warhol to Vermeer — his treatment of swing sets as chances to re-design lighting, and how the production's color pipeline shaped lens matching and LUTs.

Scott Winig, ASC has been welcomed as a new member of the American Society of Cinematographers, following a career that moved from directing and shooting music videos in the late 1990s to features and television. After earning his MFA at the American Film Institute under mentor Robert Primes, ASC, Winig built credits including The Last Movie Star, Doom Patrol, Fear the Walking Dead, Into the Dark, and the Netflix series The Witcher, which he shot over three years in the U.K.

Tari Segal, ASC and Marshall Adams, ASC join a Clubhouse Conversations roundtable moderated by Dave Perkal, ASC to break down the cinematography of their Apple TV series, Margo's Got Money Troubles and Pluribus. Segal leaned into deliberately imperfect naturalism for the comedy — using symbolic color and a Petzval lens in the Emmy-nominated "Flamingoes" episode — while Adams chased in-camera solutions over VFX on Pluribus, from a car-mounted LED rig to individually-lit radio dishes at the Very Large Array.

Marcell Rév, ASC, HCA — the cinematographer behind Euphoria — will teach the shooting-on-film track at the September 2026 ASC Master Class, a four-day program running September 22–25, 2026. Rév's credits also include Malcolm & Marie and The Story of My Wife, and he is joined by instructor Tari Segal, ASC (Interior Chinatown, Long Bright River, Margo's Got Money Troubles), with additional instructors to be announced.

The ASC Master Class is built for cinematographers looking to sharpen an intermediate-to-advanced skill set through hands-on instruction in lighting, camera technique, and current workflow practices. The four-day seminar takes place in Hollywood September 22–25, 2026, with all necessary equipment provided.

Tari Segal, ASC has been confirmed as the first instructor for this session. Segal traces her visual sensibility to the Chicago jazz scene, where she was surrounded by artists who frequented her father's club, the Jazz Showcase; the improvisational, expressive qualities of that music continue to inform her cinematography.

After earning a cinematography degree from Columbia College, Segal relocated to Los Angeles, where she interned on the Oscar-nominated Sideways before moving into work as a director of photography across shorts, music videos, and features. Her television credits include Presumed Innocent, Long Bright River, Interior Chinatown, and Poker Face, and she is currently shooting Margo's Got Money Troubles.
