I did a big thing today, though it might not seem big to everyone...
Today I files a sales tax report to Michigan's Department of Treasury.
Now I know your probably thinking, "Wow, Abby. You paid money to the government. What's the big deal?"
The big deal is this...a year ago I didn't know what I was going to do with my life. I was getting rejection email after rejection email and I thought that would be my life. But then I decided to jump off the deep end and start a new hobby which turned into a commission which then turned into a business. I wrote, illustrated and published my first children's book. I had my first successful in person sales opportunity and I have more to look forward to.
This tax report isn't just my dues to the government. It's a record that shows my work is real and this endeavor is what I am suppose to do with my life. And sure, I would much rather spend my time on the creative side rather then the business side but you can't have one without the other.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the past six months. I hope you will continue to follow my journey so that I can make beautiful things for you and tell you thrilling tales because there are definitely more to come.
