🌟 Faculty Spotlight: Jessy O’Malley 🌟

Meet Jessy O’Malley, one of the talented educators helping SSC’s youngest students discover the joy of music!

A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a certification in Musical Theatre, Jessy brings more than 20 years of performance experience to the classroom. She also has an extensive background in childcare and is the founder of Little Beats Music.

At SSC, Jessy teaches Music Together for babies and toddlers, Music Explorers for children ages 4–6, and music enrichment programs at local preschools. Her combination of musical expertise, theatrical energy, and experience working with young children makes every class welcoming, engaging, and fun.

Music Together is coming to the Laura Center for the Arts at the South Shore YMCA in Hanover!

Beginning this fall, families can join us Fridays from 9:30–10:15 am and 10:30–11:15 am at the Emilson YMCA for singing, dancing, instrument play, and musical exploration. YMCA classes run for 14 weeks, Sep 8 – Dec 23.

Designed for children from birth through age 5 and their caregivers, Music Together offers a fun, welcoming environment that nurtures creativity, family connection, and early childhood development. This semester, families will be exploring the Bongos Song Collection while building a strong musical foundation through play.

The fall semester begins September 8, and there’s still time to join us!

Registration is now open for fall group classes and ensembles, with opportunities for all ages and interests.

Our youngest students can explore Music Together, Music Explorers, Piano FUNdamentals, Rhythm FUNdamentals, Singing FUNdamentals and Guitar FUNdamentals.

Older students can find their place in Rock Band, SSC Youth Orchestra, Teen Jazz Ensemble, Irish Traditional Fiddle, SoundLab: Digital Composition, music theory and more.

And adult offerings include piano, guitar, ukulele, jazz, chamber music, singing, songwriting and more.

Meet Andrew Ricketts, a Boston-based musician, educator, producer, and specialty coffee fanatic joining SSC’s faculty to teach private drum lessons and lead jazz and rock ensembles!

Andrew’s two-decade performing career has taken him from intimate local venues to NFL stadiums. His wide-ranging experience includes winning a DCI World Championship as a member of The Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps and performing at the Hard Rock in Boston with members of the Wu-Tang Clan. He currently performs with Eavesdrop and has also appeared with Mary McAvoy, The ABeez, Adriya Joy, Roots Rock Rebels, and many others.

A proud Vic Firth and Zildjian artist and educator, Andrew brings extensive professional experience, versatility, and a lifelong passion for music to every student and ensemble. We’re excited to welcome him to the SSC community!
