Bringing quality theater to Hilo and East Hawaii since 1938. We are the oldest theater company on the Big Island.

The Hilo Community Players has been performing quality Community based theater in East Hawaii for over EIGHTY years. We are best known for our annual Shakespeare in the Park production every summer in Kalakaua Park. We are a well established Non-Profit organization. The mission of the Hilo Community Players is to educate, enrich, and entertain the Big Island community through quality theatrical productions, workshops and activities for children, youth and adults.

The rumors are true! We will be producing the epic musical SPRING AWAKENING this September!

Auditions will be held on July 2 & 7, 2026 at 7:30pm at The Keawe Theater

And just like that, another show wraps!
MAHALO to the cast and crew of FOLKS YOU MEET IN LONGS for helping us to create this amazing show and with a COMPLETELY SOLD OUT RUN! We had a wonderful time recreating a little slice of Hilo inside The Keawe Theater with you! Mahalo to all of our patrons and supporting members!
And of course, special mahalos to brilliant playwright Lee Cataluna, and our dynamic duo of directors Kimo Apaka and Rachel Klein, along with each of our designers and managers on this project! Every member of our production team, cast and crew put in so much time, energy and heart that was palpable on stage. We’re definitely sad to see this one go!
