Hello to all my new Nerdfighter friends!

Instagram told me I got 200 new followers from my last post, and I’m super excited that you’re all here (because you’re here because you’re here)!

Here are some more pictures from the Winston Salem stop of John Green’s book tour, and the crowd singing the song on the last slide.

Also, I finished Hollywood, Ending last night and it was so good!

Wild fun fact: My baby was in a movie when he was 6 months old, so a lot of the filming stuff felt very familiar to me.

I want to know what your introduction to John Green was. Mine was the Vlogbrothers channel some time around 2008. What was yours?? Let me know in the comments!

This has been a John Green Appreciation Post

John and Hank have been instrumental in my growth as an artist since I was a teenager. At every step in my small business journey, John and Hank were somehow behind the scenes, unknowingly encouraging me to keep going. Helping remind me that I have things to offer, even if they don’t seem special or important.

I got to go up onstage at John’s book tour last night. He asked for volunteers to act out a scene. He was so thrilled by our performance and genuinely seemed shocked at our talent. It was very cool to get to see him in person again after so many years.

I got to give him a new sticker I designed, that I’m particularly proud of because I can really see how much I’ve improved since the one they sold on their website. I also gave him some Mountain Goats stickers because, well, of course I did.
I hope he likes them.

Sometimes when the impostor syndrome kicks in, all you need is a celebrity to tell you that you’re doing a good job 🤷

Thank you, John and Hank, for giving me Scrambled Pegs. I never would have done it without you.

Guess who’s back?
Back again!

I brought these two dusty old designs out of retirement for you.
(they’re actually not dusty, I didn’t even make any edits to them because they were already fine!)

These are Mountain Goats lyrics and I don’t really know why I retired them other than I guess I got bored or wanted to make room for new designs.

But like, what does “make room for new designs” even mean??
Why was past me so intent on retiring designs lol 🙃

Anyway, maybe I’ll bring some more oldies back. Are there any that you miss? Maybe I’ll compile some pictures and make a poll or something idk 🤷

Posing with my stickers the way men pose with fish

Now, I haven’t been on ~the apps~ in a long time so I don’t actually see too many fish pics, so you’ll have to let me know how I did.

I’d love to do a Part 2. What classic poses did I miss??

If you’re going to see John Green on September 25th, I’ll be there giving out these free stickers!

I’m actually pretty shy, so I’m hoping I have the nerve to actually go up to people and give them stickers, but if you see me please come ask for one!

(And if you won’t be there, I do have some extras listed in my sh0p, but I mostly just wanted to spread some joy with these because I thought it would be fun!)

ANOTHER PERSON got my art TATTOOED on their BODY!!! 🤯😱🥹😭

I still can’t believe this is my life. I drew something. And someone liked it enough to permanently place it on their body for the rest of their life.

And this hasn’t just happened once. It has happened at least THIRTEEN DIFFERENT TIMES.

I attribute a lot of it to them all being the Mountain Goats quotes, so people are connecting more with the words than with my art, but they’re still connecting with the art too!

Anyway, thank you so much to Jessi for getting this tattoo, and shout out to Lightning (TaiyakiTattoo) for the amazing ex*****on!

This one is a quote from Isaiah 45:23 by the Mountain Goats, and all of the flowers are mentioned in various other Mountain Goats songs.

Swipe to see a sampling of other people who have also gotten my art tattooed on their bodies 😱

I learned how to reverse image search and guess what?? People have been stealing my art!!

Did you know that most of the art on sites like Amazon, Temu, Shein, etc. is stolen from somewhere? They don’t have artists employed to make their designs like you might think.

They just have people searching the internet for other peoples’ art.
Even some sites that look like small businesses are actually just buying rip offs in bulk on those types of sites and reselling it.

If you have a good system for figuring out if the seller actually made the art they’re selling, PLEASE comment.

I generally look for “about me” pages, consistency in style, and I feel like there’s just a vibe a shop gives off when they’re legit. But ughhh some people make it so hard to tell these days 😤

Also just a note, for the design in this video, I had revisited the piece after a couple years and made some tweaks, so that’s why some of the images look a little different from each other. The original design had lowercase letters and the updated version is in all caps.

This sucks and I doubt I can get any kind of payment or retribution from these people. The best I can hope for is getting them taken down.
I wonder how much money has been made off of my design in total. Hundreds? Thousands?

Aaaanyway, I have this piece available as stickers and also really cool keychains, (and I guess I should make enamel pins??) so come support me if you like it 🫶

Alright nosy data nerds (aka me) here are some real life behind the scenes stats from my shop this month.

Swipe to see my best and worst sellers!

Which one surprised you most? I’m always surprised how many people like the cello one 😅
