Behind the Name:
In 2014, I started my pedigree assignment journey. At the time, my most loved model was a jumping horse that my mom had passed down to me. I had named him Underwater King, or “Triton.” Although I lived in the mountains at the time and absolutely hate going to the beach, I decided to use Triton as inspiration when it came to branding for my sire/dam list. Thus, Atlantis Equestrian was born! For a while, I used Atlantis Equestrian (AEC) for everything. In 2020, amidst my pandemic boredom, I decided to expand Atlantis Equestrian and start a separate website for my fantasy horses. I decided on “Sirens’ Song Fantasy Equine” since it incorporated a fantastical element with sirens in the name while still sticking to the whole “ocean” theme. Sirens’ Song is now the home to the Blue Appalachia Horse, a spin off breed of fantasy horses that was inspired by the Blue Ridge mountains, Scottish folklore, and Latin-American folklore. I kept growing my pedigree assignment websites and researching all kinds of horse color genes, building up a name for myself in the PA side of the hobby. Fast forward to this year (2022): I have gotten bored once again and started taking commissions for my arena bases and miniature scenes. Both of these have long received great feedback at live shows but now that I don’t show in performance, I couldn’t find a reason for me to dedicate my time to making props and scenes, even if I did love doing it. That’s why I started taking commissions. After getting great feedback on Facebook, I started receiving messages asking if I had a page or website so people could follow my work. This encouraged me to create a new page where I could receive commission requests and share my work. I could’ve kept with Atlantis Equestrian, but that had become so connected to pedigree assignment that it didn’t seem to fit well. After brainstorming for a few days, I finally settled on “Seafarer Studios” which, once again, brings in that ocean element to keep everything on brand. I don’t have a logo yet but that is definitely next on my to-do list!
