"Brave"

Thoughts keep spinning in my head ,
Web of lies, like cancer spread.
No escape, this is my prison.
All there's left to do is listen.

Grasping hopeless for an exit,
A magic potion to un- hex it.
Finding nothingness instead.
Impending doom, constant dread.

Just one hit, just one bite-
One sip of you gives me the night.
The voices soften, never silent.
Mentality then becomes complaint.

Blackness, darkness vibrating thunder-
Before the next round pulls me under.
Bandaid on an open wound;
Storm clouds overhead still loom.

In the distance way beyond me-
Shines a light I barely can see.
I know, however what's waiting there-
And that's how I stay brave when scared.
