Statement from the Hiawatha
Community Theatre

Due to current facility conditions and the absence of a coordinated capital improvement plan for the Municipal Auditorium, Hiawatha Community Theatre will not proceed with an April production.

Moving forward with a production under the present circumstances would not be responsible for performers, volunteers, audiences, or the long-term stewardship of this county-owned public facility.

HCT has formally requested a joint meeting with the Brown County Commissioners and the Brown County Historical Society to discuss the facility's condition and establish a coordinated plan for improvements and future operations.

Hiawatha Community Theatre remains committed to the long-term success of the Municipal Auditorium and looks forward to productive discussions that will allow the theatre to continue serving the community.

HCT looks forward to working collaboratively with community partners to ensure the Municipal Auditorium continues to serve Hiawatha for generations to come.

📣 Hiawatha Community Theatre Seeks Board Members
& Board Secretary 🎭
Hiawatha Community Theatre (HCT) is inviting community members to serve on our Board of Directors as we plan upcoming productions and continue preserving live theatre in our region.
We currently have openings for Board Members and a Board Secretary. These are meaningful volunteer roles that support the arts and strengthen our community — no acting experience required.
🗓️ Board meetings are held monthly (evenings).
🎭 Board Members help with:
• Organizational planning and decision-making
• Supporting productions and events
• Community outreach and advocacy
• Ensuring long-term sustainability of the theatre
📝 The Board Secretary also assists with:
• Recording and distributing meeting minutes
• Maintaining organizational records
• Supporting official communications
⭐ We are seeking individuals who are:
✔ Dependable and able to attend meetings consistently
✔ Supportive of the arts and community initiatives
✔ Willing to collaborate as part of a team
✔ Organized and detail-oriented (especially for the Secretary role)
✔ Interested in making a lasting local impact
People with backgrounds in education, business, administration, finance, marketing, facilities, or nonprofit work are especially welcome — but anyone with enthusiasm and reliability is encouraged to inquire.
Serving on the board is a rewarding way to contribute behind the scenes while helping keep live theatre thriving in Hiawatha.
