Desert Lighthouse Newsletter #3
We’re in the home stretch, people! This Saturday, July 1st 2017, you are cordially invited to attend the official lighting ceremony of the Desert Lighthouse in Hinkley, CA. The record heat and high desert winds proved to be vigorous challenges, with unsecured panels tearing off the structure, blueprints carried off during final inspections, and a Canadian film crew gamely braving the un-Canadian temperatures to document the final phases for the Discovery Channel.
But everything is tested and bolted down and ready for the inaugural ceremony, which will take place from 6 - 9pm as the incredible desert sunset transitions into darkness and the Desert Lighthouse is officially lit for the first time. Temperatures will be the lowest in 2 weeks, but you should bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. Allow one-and-a-half to two hours driving time from Los Angeles (full directions below). Carpooling is encouraged, and if you need or can offer a ride, we’ll be happy to facilitate communication through our FB page facebook.com/thedesertlighthouse

You will clearly see the lighthouse from the parking area but we ask that you do not attempt to drive up the smaller dirt roads during the event as a safety precaution to keep the roads active and clear.
