EARLY BIRD TICKETS NOW THROUGH AUG 29, 2026 - $10/person
The Forgotten Circus is open every Friday in October 2026: October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.

The circus was forgotten for a reason.

This October, the lights flicker back on as Not Shockboxx transforms into The Forgotten Circus, a highly produced haunted art experience filled with immersive installations, sinister performers, and a twisted gallery maze built to pull you deeper into a big top that should have stayed buried.

Beyond the entrance, the remnants of an old circus wait in the dark. Faded music drifts through the air. Shadows move behind threadbare curtains. Forgotten performers linger where the spotlight once found them, still desperate for one last audience. As you wander deeper into the decaying big top, the line between spectacle and nightmare begins to disappear, and the circus seems less abandoned with every step.

If you find your way out of the maze, the evening continues next door inside The Studio, where games, strange diversions, and other sideshow fun await. The Forgotten Circus will make its final appearance at a separately listed Halloween party on October 31.

The maze is open from 6–9 PM, but this is not a three-hour event. Ticket holders may arrive anytime during that window on the Friday for which they purchased admission and enter the walk-through experience. Children are welcome, but all guests age 15 and younger must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for determining whether the experience is appropriate for their children and for helping ensure they have a positive experience.

Early-bird tickets are $10 per person through August 29, 2026. Beginning August 30, tickets will be $15 per person for one selected night.

The opening night may be over, but Knot Sorry is just getting started.
Fiber art has never been this loud.

Step inside a gallery filled with work that twists, stitches, knots, weaves, and reimagines what textiles can be. These aren't the pieces you grew up thinking belonged on the wall. They're funny, political, vulnerable, obsessive, beautiful, and impossible to dismiss.

Whether you're an artist, a collector, or simply curious, this is a show worth spending time with.

🧵 Knot Sorry
📍 Not Shockboxx Gallery
🗓️ Now through September 7 (extended!)
🕙 Every week Thursday–Sunday | 10 AM–5 PM

Come see what happens when softness refuses to stay quiet.

So… how do you actually break into the art world? And do you even want to?

Join us for a raw, unfiltered conversation about building an art career without losing your voice, your sanity, or all your time to Instagram. We’re stripping away the elitism and talking honestly about gatekeepers, self-promotion, creative vulnerability, DIY opportunities, community, and what artistic success can look like outside the traditional system.

Moderated by Michele Allen Fulkerson, the evening features artists Claudia Berman, Adele French, Sylvana Lankshear, Danette Mitchell, Priscilla Ortiz, and Emily Tanaka, followed by an artist showcase, audience Q&A, and time to mix and mingle.

This invitation is for artists throughout the entire South Bay, not just Hermosa Beach. Working artists, emerging artists, art students, curious creatives, and people still trying to figure out whether they’re “allowed” to call themselves artists: you belong in this conversation.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
7–9 PM
FREE to attend (but RSVP required)
The Studio
636 Cypress Ave., Hermosa Beach

Presented by the Backboxx Artist Society.
Reserve your spot through the link in bio.

☀️NEW OPEN CALL☀️: THE GOOD STUFF

In recognition of Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month, we’re creating an Artsy-only exhibition about the things that make life worth staying for.

Not just the grand milestones or picture-perfect moments. We want the small, deeply personal stuff: the first quiet hour of the morning. A perfectly made cup of coffee. Sunlight entering a familiar room. A dog asleep at your feet. An inside joke, a favorite song, a place that feels like home, or something meaningful that no one else could completely understand.

We’re seeking artwork that captures these moments in whatever form they take: joyful, tender, funny, strange, nostalgic, imperfect, or almost impossible to explain. Your work does not need to address su***de or mental health directly. This exhibition is about the people, places, rituals, sensations, memories, and tiny sparks that remind us there is still good stuff here.

Maybe you’ve already made this piece without realizing it belonged in a show like this. Maybe it’s sitting in your studio right now. Or maybe this is the inspiration to pause, look closely at your own life, and make something new.

All mediums and approaches are welcome. The exhibition will take place exclusively online through Artsy.

Show us your good stuff.
