David Coates, woodcarver was inspired by his grandfather’s whittling figures out of wood. David has spent several decades honing his technique carving stylized human figures. A guitarist must learn to strum and fret a guitar; a photographer hones visual talents to observer a scene–looking past the obvious, searching for colors, shapes, and contrasts with which to share our visions.

My focus is driven by nature; influenced by understated architectural design; and stimulated by colors/shapes found in Superior’s sunrise & sunsets.
