Returning to Western North Carolina from visiting my son in Richmond, Virginia, was a reminder of how deeply connected I feel to this place, even though I am a recent transplant. While Richmond’s charm and the joy of family time are always fulfilling, there’s something profoundly grounding about coming back to these majestic mountains.

Driving along the back roads, I was struck once again by the sheer beauty of the landscape. The sunset painted the sky with hues of gold, lavender, and deep orange, its light cascading over the rolling hills like a gentle embrace.
