The barn at Whittier Birthplace .
3 years ago Art Veasey challenged us to form a barn committee.
Since then many have stepped up and the historic barn exterior renovation is now complete thanks to the contributions of individuals , especially of Haverhill's The Cogswell Club. Big thanks to Tim Jordan for starting that giving group 4 years ago, it's a huge lift for projects in Haverhill Mass .
The new roof, exterior painting, and repairs were all due and necessary to preserve the historic 1841 barn.
With more work to come on the barn, I appreciate the future support of our Mass State rep Andy Vargas and his office, always more work to do.
Stay tuned for activities at the barn:
December 5th, Let's Hike Haverhill gathering with Team Haverhill and Greenbelt - Essex County's Land Trust .
Start planning for 2027: music, arts, theater, gatherings.
Stay tuned!!
I'm fortunate to serve with the staff, volunteers, caretakers and Board of Trustees of the wonderful Birthplace of poet John Greenleaf Whittier,
305 Whittier Road, Haverhill MA.
Sincerely
Jimmy Carbone
