I am incredibly proud to announce that Hartselle Theatre made a significant impact at the 2026 Tallulah Awards, held this past Sunday, May 17, at the Von Braun Center Concert Hall.
Our production of Big Fish the Musical School Edition was recognized as one of the top productions in North Alabama, bringing home an incredible array of honors that celebrate the hard work, talent, and heart of our students.
A huge congratulations to Lucas McMinemon and Cooper Reid Estep, who were both named Semifinalists for Best Male Actor. After advancing to the "Final Four" and performing live at the ceremony, Lucas McMinemon was crowned the Best Male Actor in Alabama! Lucas will head to New York City for 10 days of intensive training before competing in the prestigious Jimmy Awards, which will air nationally on June 22nd.
Our program was recognized for excellence in many categories, proving the depth of talent in our ensemble:
Finalist for Production of the Year
Outstanding Production of the Year
Outstanding Ensemble of the Year
Outstanding Dance Ensemble (Awarded to both Cast A & Cast B)
The Spirit of the Tallulah's Award: Emma Gregory
Beyond the top honors, several of our students were recognized for their specific contributions to the magic of Big Fish:
Outstanding Male Actors: Cooper Reid Estep, Lucas McMinemon, and Brady Long.
Outstanding Supporting Actors: Jackson Lee Turner, Maddox Abernathy, and Cooper Reid Estep.
Outstanding Supporting Actress: Alana Travers.
These awards are a testament to the countless hours of rehearsal and dedication that our students & volunteers poured into this show and our program. We are so grateful to the Broadway Theatre League of Huntsville & the Tallulah Awards for celebrating the importance of arts education and providing such a wonderful platform for our students to shine.
