The final presentation of the Arts on the Square 2025-2026 season featured the Sanctuary Choir of Market Square Presbyterian Church, international concert organist Dr. Isabelle Demers, and conductor Tyler Canonico-Dilley performing Maurice Duruflรฉ's "Requiem, Opus 9" and Louis Vierne's "Messe Solonnelle in C # minor, Opus 16," two of France's most beloved choral works.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ถ๐ฟ is surely the finest church choir in central Pennsylvania and possibly in the state. A fine blend of voices, excellent diction, and accurate pitch allow them to weave melodies from the quietest passages to the thrilling crescendos that mark the pieces performed in Sunday's concert.
๐๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ is known internationally as a concert organist who has "has enraptured listeners worldwide with spell-binding performances." A Quรฉbec native and graduate of the Juilliard School, she is a professor at McGill University in Montrรฉal. Dr. Demers brought all of her skill and musicality to her accompaniment, setting the mood and enhancing every passage while supporting the choir.
Conductor ๐ง๐๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ-๐๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐, called "one of the East Coastโs finest and dynamic concert organists and inspiring church musicians," rehearsed the musicians to the point of perfection and then showcased their talents with his skillful direction.
The concert marked the end of the musical portion of this season, but the Arts on the Square Gallery show, โ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐: ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐โ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ, is available on Sundays through June 28.
