In her Ode to the Women of Josun Dynasty series, SoHyun Bae reimagines the women who were largely absent from the visual record of Korea's Joseon Dynasty.

In 𝘈 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘯 𝘋𝘺𝘯𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘺: 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢 𝘑𝘢𝘳, the female figure and vessel become intertwined. The title references the historical Korean practice of preserving a child's placenta in a ceremonial jar, transforming an object associated with birth into a symbol of memory, identity, and continuity. Through luminous layers of pigment, rice paper, and fabric, Bae honors women's experiences while reflecting on the ways history preserves some stories and overlooks others.

𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆: 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔 is now on view in the Po***ck Foundation Education Center Gallery through November 8. The exhibition presents a grouping of prints by four contemporary artists, each employing a different mode of printmaking.

Covering lithography, drypoint, chine collé, collagraph, and woodblock printing, the exhibition highlights the persistence of printmaking as a practice and the ways that artists have embraced historic techniques while utilizing contemporary color, imagery, and materials.

The works by Cameron Bailey, Becky Blosser, Rachel Mentzer, and Junli Song showcase each artist’s unique process, while honoring the long-standing traditions of printmaking.

We'll be highlighting each of these artists and printmaking processes in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Our very first year of summer camp was an absolute blast! We had so much fun creating with the campers. Special thanks to our fantastic instructors, who made it all possible. We wish all of our new friends a happy and healthy back-to-school season!

Sunday is the last day to view 𝐴𝑝𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑀𝑦 𝐸𝑦𝑒 in the Education Center Gallery! Visit us this weekend to see these whimsical works by Natan Lawson.

Lawson writes, "I’m naturally drawn to observing and collecting ephemera. These are the transient objects, textures, and printed matter we encounter in our daily lives that we disregard or simply overlook. I find that anything, from the template of a child’s cursive worksheet to the motif pattern on a paper plate, can be appreciated for its formal qualities. I find joy in sorting through scraps to find moments that speak to me as art. The principles that make an image pleasing—composition, movement, contrast, scale, connection—are at work everywhere."

Last week, high school students in the Greater Harrisburg area came together for our 2026 Artistic Expressions Teen Art Academy, and we were blown away by their talent! We explored methods of image creation such as cyanotype, relief sculpture, and monotype. The results are amazing!

A very special thanks to SoHyun Bae, Autumn Wright, and Lauren Nye for providing unique workshops, and to the students who opened themselves up to new techniques and ideas.

We can't wait for next year!

In her piece Harmoni (My Grandmother), SoHyun Bae creates a portrait that seems to emerge from memory itself. Built with pure pigment and delicate layers of rice paper, the face appears both present and fleeting, as though suspended between remembrance and disappearance. Rather than defining every feature, Bae allows texture, light, and subtle marks to carry the emotional weight of the portrait.

Throughout her career, Bae has explored the human condition through deeply personal experiences that speak to universal themes of vulnerability, resilience, and human dignity. Here, memory is gently revealed through layers, much like the lives and stories passed from one generation to the next.

Opening this week in the Dōshi Gallery is 𝑆𝑙𝑖𝑝𝑝𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑠, an exhibition of photographs by Linda Cummings.

Slippages was a ten-year photographic project launched by Linda Cummings in 1992 shortly after Anita Hill’s testimony to the U.S. Congress alleging sexual misconduct by then-nominee Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court. In resistance and defiance of gravity, Cummings tossed an empty slip into the air, inserting “hysterical gestures” into highly gendered environments while photographing its fluid transit through the frame. The project was fueled by the deep social anxiety and technological instability mounting as the Industrial Age of the 90’s gave way to the Information Age, leaving gendered hierarchies in panic and “up in the air”.

The photographs imagine the emergence of new arrangements and associations within the established order of things. Cummings created each photograph on location with a hand-held SLR on a single frame of 35mm film, then hand-printed them on silver gelatin paper.
